Crown Molding Templates

The crown molding templates are absolutely necessary to cut and install your crown molding. The crown molding templates can be used for both horizontal ceilings and cathedral/vaulted ceilings. The templates allow you to easily and effortlessly match the correct positioning of your crown molding on your saw as well as in which direction to adjust your miter and/or blade tilt. Without using these templates a novice do-it-yourself person will always make incorrect cuts and waste a lot of time trying to remember how to set-up the cut each time.

Crown Molding Cutting Jig

Cutting crown molding doesn't have to be confusing and frustrating. CROWN-CUT is the safest and easiest way to cut crown molding, and you will cut perfect miters every time. What's the secret? CROWN-CUT holds the molding at the crown's intended angle, and locks it in place while you cut it. Before CROWN-CUT the common way to cut molding was to lay it flat and use a compound cut. Not only was this difficult, computing the two angles was nearly impossible. In contrast, CROWN-CUT requires only simple 45 degree miter cuts that any miter saw can handle. CROWN-CUT fits crown and cove molding up to 6 inches wide and fits all 10 and larger miter saws. CROWN-CUT is completely portable and requires no attachment to your miter saw.

Get the freedom of portable cutting power without the hassles of gas. Just fill the oil chamber and after every cut just push a button twice to oil the blade. This prevents for smoother cuts and a longer lasting bar and chain. A window lets you know how much oil remains. The cordless chain saw is designed for a comfortable cutting experience. A wrap around handle provides multiple gripping positions to make both straight and sie cuts. A soft grip pad on the handle provides maximum comfort. The cordless chain saw comes with one 18-volt battery that is interchangeable with other Black & Decker outdoor products and power tools. Also included is a guide bar scabbard that covers the blade for storage and transport and an on board hex wrench.

These Boots Were Made for Walking – on the Roof

A lot of home owners won’t go up on the roof to do those simple jobs like retrieving a lost Frisbee, cleaning the gutters or putting up Christmas lights because they’re afraid they’ll fall; but Roland Thompson of Arlington, Va., feels as comfortable on his rooftop as he does walking on the ground. It wasn’t always like that for him though.

“The very thought of getting up on the roof and slipping all over the place or even falling off the roof used to have me procrastinating for months on a job I knew had to be completed,” he says. But this spring, he’ll have no qualms about going up on the roof to clean the gutters, remove branches and the like.

A few years ago, he received a pair of Cougar Paws brand Duraflex Roofing Work Boots for Christmas, and there’s been no grounding him ever since. “I can't believe how much traction and stability the boots provide me while I’m working on my steep pitched roof. You can never be too safe and these boots make walking on the roof as safe as it gets,” says Thompson.

The boots are the brainchild of Dan Cougar, a Virginia man who spent 20 years working as a professional roofer. “At one point back in the mid 1990s, it seemed like a lot of my clients were calling me to do jobs they could have easily handled on their own if they just had the same confidence I did on the roof,” says Cougar.

Recognizing the need for specialized footwear that would increase safety and comfort and speed up production, he set out to come up with a solution. Cougar Paws roofing boots are unique because they feature a revolutionary traction grip foam pad that grips asphalt, wood, slate, and tile roof surfaces therefore enhancing your safety.

“These shoes make a remarkable difference,” says Cougar. “They combine the protection and performance you expect with the comfort and support hard-working feet need.”

The durability of Cougar Paws shoes have been proven over time. They feature superior flexibility, extra cushioning, and speed lacing for added convenience. Their soles are made of industrial strength Velcro which allows a replaceable ‘Traction-Grip’ pad to be attached. There are currently two types of pads available: one for tile, slate, asphalt, wood or composite roofs and a metal-spiked pair you can wear when tearing off an old roof.

“Regardless of how many times anyone is required to go up on their roof, whether to clean gutters, remove branches or anything, every home owner should have a pair of these roofing boots. You can never be too safe,” says Thompson.

Cougar Paws are useful not only to homeowners who need to go up on their roofs on occasion, but are used daily by insurance agents, home inspectors and roofing contractors across the country. To find a Cougar Paws dealer near you, or to order online, visit www.CougarPaws.com.

Black & Decker Alligator Lopper Electric Chain Saw

Take a big bite out of fallen trees, tree limbs and brush with the new Alligator Lopper, a revolutionary new cutting tool that provides chainsaw-like cutting performance in an un-intimidating and easy to use tool. With its scissor-like action, the Alligator Lopper's rugged metal jaws clamp onto logs and thick branches, as well as smaller tree limbs and vines and then saws through them with ease. Once limbs and branches are on the ground, the Alligator Lopper is perfect for chopping them up into manageable pieces to throw away or into your fireplace. The Alligator Lopper is ideal for tree pruning, clearing brush, storm clean-up, cutting firewood and more, and is a great alternative to chainsaws, manual loppers, handsaws and clippers. The Alligator Lopper's jaws offer the ultimate in controlled cutting. The rugged metal guards that cover the jaws protect you from the cutting chain and immediately snap back over the blades once the cut is complete. The Alligator Lopper's jaws also mean it does not skip around like chainsaws when starting to cut. The Alligator Lopper cuts side-to-side instead of from top to bottom as with traditional chainsaws. This sideways cutting prevents burying the cutting chain in the dirt as the chain cuts though, which can quickly dull a regular chainsaw. The Alligator Lopper also makes it much faster and easier to cut logs since you don't have to prop them up on saw horses or other logs. Just grab them in the Alligator Lopper's jaws and cut right through. The Alligator Lopper's auto chain tensioning keeps it in top cutting form. Just loosen the bar retainer bolts with the included wrench and the bar automatically takes out the slack and adjusts the chain's tension perfectly.

Magnogrip

Magnets can definitely be fun and interesting - but they have a serious side, too. Storage media, electric motors, speakers, transformers and credit cards all owe their ability to function to magnets. It would certainly be a less geeky world without magnets. There also would be no MagnoGrip.

The MagnoGrip is a magnetic wristband guaranteed to securely hold nails, screws, drill bits, fasteners and tools. It allows professionals and do-it yourselfers to finish jobs in less time and with less frustration. The magnogrip is built to handle the most rugged of jobs. Its fabric construct consists of durable heavy duty canvas, industrial grade velcro and high-powered magnets that are strong enough to hold a hammer.

  • Perfect for DIY, home improvement projects, mechanics, contractors, installers, tinkerers, etc.
  • Made of heavy duty canvas, velcro and powerful magnets
  • Dimensions: 3.5" wide x 14" long
  • Max circumference: 12"

Tape Measure and Sonic Measuring

Replace your measuring tape with this new product. Tim Carter of AsktheBuilder.com demonstrates how a new sonic measuring device makes any job easier. Almost all home improvement jobs will involve measuring. You can use a tape measure which will give you 10-30 feet or a tape rule which will extend up to 100 feet. Using a tape measure may require a second person to hold the tape. You can now use a sonic measure, also called a digital tape measure, which you can do by yourself. Just aim from one point to the next and it will give you a digital read out of the distance. It can also figure an area measurement which lets you know how many square feet of tile or hardwood flooring you will need. The volume in cubic feet of a room can be figured. This handy tool does all the math for you.

Black & Decker 8-Inch Auto Wrench

Manually adjusting a wrench to fit particular nuts and bolts can be a real hassle, especially in tight spaces. Enter Black & Decker’s battery-powered Auto Wrench, a phenomenally handy tool that opens and closes with the push of a button. Boasting 220 foot-pounds of torque, this wrench is powerful enough to handle most household tasks, from car repair to fixing leaks.

The Auto Wrench is not meant to replace specialty tools like pipe or torque wrenches, but the jaws open wide enough (up to 1-1/4-inch) so that it could conceivably replace a range of manual wrenches sitting in your toolkit. This is an ideal product for someone looking to buy a wrench that’s both easy to use and versatile. At 8-inches, you could toss it in the silverware drawer and whip it out when you need it.

The area where this wrench really shines is in hard-to-reach spots where mobility is obscured, such as under sinks. A typical situation where the Auto Wrench would help might be one in which you’re awkwardly reaching for a nut underneath the kitchen faucet. With a comparable manual wrench, it’s conceivable you would fumble around with the adjusting mechanism for minutes on end, and then toss a fit. With the Auto Wrench, you’d simply press a button (positioned where you rest your thumb) and the jaws would open or close to your specifications.

We were a bit skeptical when we learned the Auto Wrench takes AA batteries and doesn’t include a rechargeable battery. This means you’ll need to keep some extra batteries around the house – or buy some rechargeable batteries -- if you use it frequently. However, the wrench isn’t a power hog by any means. Black & Decker says you can get 650 cycles out of two AA batteries, which should be plenty for most people.
